Chinese Protein PTMomics Innovation Goes Global | PTM BIO Showcases at HUPO 2026 in Singapore

The 25th World Congress of the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO 2026) officially opened in Singapore on September 27, 2026. The event brought together researchers, clinicians, and industry leaders from more than 60 countries to explore new opportunities for proteomics to advance human health.

At the conference, PTM BIO, a leading Chinese proteomics company, unveiled three core technology solutions for the global research community: Spatial X Holographic Proteomics, Novel Protein Post-Translational Modification (PTM) Proteomics, and Blood Protein PTM Multi-Omics. The company also highlighted original advances in protein PTMomics from China.

Addressing Key Challenges in Protein PTMomics

Post-translational modifications (PTMs) are critical regulators of protein function and play a central role in understanding disease mechanisms and discovering clinical biomarkers. Yet several challenges remain.

Most current spatial proteomics approaches focus primarily on protein abundance, making it difficult to capture PTM signals in their native tissue context. Meanwhile, many emerging PTMs with important biological functions still lack standardized, end-to-end analytical workflows. Blood-based studies also face challenges in proteomic depth and sample complexity, limiting the discovery of PTM-based biomarkers.

Three Technology Platforms Expand the Scope of PTM Research

To address these challenges, PTM BIO has developed an integrated technology portfolio spanning spatial PTM analysis, novel PTMs, and clinical blood proteomics, providing researchers with new approaches to investigate protein regulation and disease biology.

Spatial X Holographic Proteomics

Spatial X expands spatial proteomics beyond conventional protein abundance measurements by incorporating PTMs into spatially resolved tissue analysis.

By combining microdissection, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and AI-powered data analysis, the platform preserves spatial information and enables researchers to investigate PTM-driven regulatory mechanisms within tumors and the immune microenvironment—opening new possibilities for functional spatial biology.

Novel PTM Proteomics

Built on PTM BIO’s proprietary antibody development and mass spectrometry capabilities, this platform provides a standardized, end-to-end workflow for emerging PTMs, covering sample preparation, PTM-specific enrichment, mass spectrometric analysis, and dedicated bioinformatics.

The workflow is designed to help researchers uncover the regulatory mechanisms of emerging PTMs and accelerate discoveries in this rapidly evolving field.

Blood Protein PTM Multi-Omics

Designed for translational and clinical research, this solution addresses the challenges of PTM profiling in complex blood samples by enabling deep detection of protein modification signals and supporting large-scale clinical cohorts.

The platform provides a foundation for noninvasive biomarker discovery and early disease detection.

Connecting Chinese Innovation with the Global Research Community

During the conference, PTM BIO’s technical team engaged with international researchers on topics including sample compatibility, experimental design, and cross-border research collaboration. These discussions also provided insights into the challenges researchers face in PTM studies worldwide, helping inform future technology development.

In addition to its three core platforms, PTM BIO showcased an integrated research workflow covering target discovery, AI-driven multi-omics analysis, PRM-based targeted validation, and custom antibody development, providing end-to-end support for proteomics research.

At HUPO 2026, PTM BIO is showcasing the growing impact of Chinese innovation in proteomics on the global stage. Moving forward, the company will continue advancing Spatial X Holographic Proteomics, novel PTM proteomics, and blood protein PTM multi-omics, while expanding international research collaborations and supporting advances in life science research and precision medicine worldwide.
